The report on D2 acivity “Ex-ante and post-ante monitoring on the effectiveness of the project conservation actions” was prepared

After summarizing the monitoring of Project activities in 2015, Project staff has prepared the report of D2 activity (Ex-ante and post-ante monitoring on the effectiveness of the project conservation actions). The report provides the methods of the project conservation actions, which include the monitoring of bird mortality under high voltage power transmission lines before and after putting the measures of visualization, data on White storks mortality of electric charges and the survey of efficiency of nest-boxes for Kestrels. You can find here the data collected prior to implementation of project activities, and data collected in 2015, which helps to evaluate the first results of the actions implemented.
The main purpose of ex-ante and ex-post monitoring is to assess bird mortality rates and changes before and after the practical implementation of security measures on selected high voltage transmission lines, where activities C.1–C.3 were implemented. Also, the monitoring of breeding success of Common Kestrels in the nest boxes erected on power transmission lines will be carried out, trying to evaluate the success of C.4 activity (erecting of nest-boxes for Common Kestrels). The survey of White Storks mortality also will be continued.
Ex - ante and ex - post monitoring plan has been drawn up during the first six months of the project. A baseline (ex-ante) monitoring was carried out in 2014-2015, before implementing security measures. Later, in 2015-2018, after implementing all security measures, the same indicators will be monitored trying to evaluate how the situation after implementing the security measures has changed (ex-post monitoring).
