BirdLife representatives visited project territory near Kretuonas lake

Representatives from the Birdlife International, Europe and Central Asia office, visited Lithuania on 24-26 July, 2018. Since 1994, the Lithuanian Ornithological Society is representing Birdlife International as the associated partner, actively contributing to the various initiatives and policy work of the Birdlife. Head of the Policy division Ariel Brunner and Board member and director of the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society Gergo Halmos together with the director of the LOD Liutauras Raudonikis visited several territories, where the practical conservation works were performed by the initiative of the  LOD. One of the territory visited – meadows near Kretuonas lake in the Aukstaitija region. The LOD in cooperation with the electricity transmission grid operator AB “Litgrid” has installed special markers for the increase of the visibility of the wires on the high voltage electricity transmission grid. During this field trip the main problems of the similar places were discussed, the guests also shared their experience from other countries.
